Fernside is a small animal veterinary clinic located in the heart of Borehamwood. We care for animals in Borehamwood and the surrounding areas. 
 
Established since 1996 by Robyn Farquhar, we are committed to offering you and your pet a personal service. We aim to build lasting relationships with our clients by providing professional care in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. 
 
From your new pets first steps to their senior years, we provide a range of services from routine appointments to emergency care. 

MEET OUR FRIENDLY TEAM 

Qualified Veterinary Surgeons 
All of our veterinary surgeons are qualified and registered under the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). They continue to update their skills and knowledge by undergoing an extensive range of practical courses and webinars. 
Robyn Farquhar 
MRCVS, MACVS, BVSc DipVetClinStud, Cert(GP)SAM, PgCertEMS 
 
Robyn trained at Massey University in New Zealand in 1984. She started Fernside in 1996 after taking on the Medburn branch practice owned by Vivien Sheriden. She has a special interest in emergency care and epilepsy. Robyn owns a lovely lurcher called Norman who was rescued by the local dog wardens. She liked to breed dressage horses and enjoys riding the quietest ones she has bred! 
Fiona Grieve 
BVMS MRCVS 
 
Fiona is one of our senior vets. She qualified in 1992 and has been here with us at Fernside since 2003. Fiona is an Official Veterinarian (OV) which means that she can issue pet passports and export certificates. She is also one of our clinical coaches meaning she is responsible for the training of our student nurses. At home Fiona has a very handsome cat called Wilf. 
Konstantina Nianiou 
MRCVS 
 
Konstantina was recruited in the middle of an international veterinary staff crisis where recruiting vets seemed impossible. She was our unicorn when we found and hired her in January 2022. 
Konstantina qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 2010 from The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. 
She currently lives in Barnet with her partner. 
Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN) 
All of our nurses are qualified and registered under the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. They have undergone extensive training and continue to update their knowledge by completing continued professional development hours.  
Isabelle Andelius 
BSc (Hons) RVN 
 
Isabelle joined us at Fernside in 2015 as a placement student and qualified from Middlesex University in 2017. She is now our head nurse helping Robyn with the running of the practice and she is responsible for the out of hours care of our in-patients.  
Isabelle has two cats who were rescued from Fernside called Benji and Boris and a Whippet cross called Mason. 
Cara Lane 
RVN 
 
Cara joined our nurse team in May 2022. She qualified in 2021 from Goddard Vet Group Nursing Collage. 
Cara lives in Edgeware with labrador Bella.  
She's got a horse called Joey and she spends most of her spare time trekking with him. 
Lotte Matthews 
FdSc RVN 
 
Lotte started with us as a placement student from The Royal Veterinary College. She will be a fully qualified nurse in July 2022 and will be working part time with us in 2022-2023 while she continues studying towards her Bachelors Degree.  
At home she has got a dachshund cross called Millie and a cat called Rosie.  
Chloe Boyce 
SVN 
 
Chloe joined us in December 2019 as one of our receptionist. 
In April 2021 she started her training as a student veterinary nurse at the College of Animal Welfare and has quickly become an invaluable part of the nursing team. 
Chloe has a handsome Cavalier King Charles spaniel called Albert and a Staffie called Marni. 
Yasmin Bunten 
SVN 
 
Yasmin started at Fernside in September 2020 as an extra hand for the vets in consults during the Covid-19 pandemic. In December 2021 she completed her Veterinary Care Assistant course and in April 2022 she is starting her veterinary nursing training at the College of Animal Welfare. 
At home Yasmin has two boxers called Fudge and Scooby and a beutiful little cat called Bean. 
Support Staff 
Fernside support staff help with assisting all staff and go through ongoing internal training. 
Jasmine Dancy 
General Assistant 
 
Jasmine joined us in 2019 as a helping hand to the the rest of the team with the day to day running of the practice.  
You will see her on Saturdays and school holidays as when she is not at Fernside she is studying language and international relations at university in London. 
 
Lily Frosdick 
Student Veterinary Care Assistant 
 
Lily started at Fernside in November 2021 and in January 2022 she started at the Collage of Animal Welfare to become a Veterinary Care Assistant and expand her veterinary knowledge. 
At home she has got a collie/cocker called Buddy. 
Receptionists 
All of our receptionists here at Fernside receive ongoing training to help make your experience a pleasant one. 
Jane Ratcliffe 
 
Jane has been at Fernside since 2000 and is our Head Receptionist and accounts manager, responsible for the day to day running of the reception team. Jane is our crazy dog lady with 4 dogs and counting. Ask her about Nelly Noodles, Winifred, Naughty Neville and Peggy four paws. 
Amanda Conrad 
 
Amanda joined us as part of the Fernside team in 2018 and settled in very quickly as she had lots of previous experience in customer service. Since joining Fernside she couldn’t resist taking on a stray kitten in the practice called Willow. 
Sue Hodson 
 
Sue joined our reception team at the end of 2020. She had previous reception experience and you will see her friendly face on front desk on a Monday and Tuesday morning. 
She has a little Yorkshire terrier called Mitzy at home. 
Danielle Rawlings 
 
Danielle joined Fernside in May 2021 and has quickly settled in as part of the team.  
Danielle is horse crazy and outside of work she is a trained eqiune massage therapist!  
She lives in Shenley with her two golden retrievers called Paddy and Ellie and her warmblood Mimi. 

Out of Hours 

During our opening hours we treat emergencies here at Fernside. Out of hours, the practice is registered so clients can use the emergency service at the Royal Veterinary College in South Mimms. In the event of a emergecy please call the 'Out of Hours Service' direct on 01707 666399 and the Emergency Care team will take details and advise you on the appropriate action.
